SolarAPP+ Automated Solar Plan Reviews

Before applying for an automated solar plan review and solar permit, projects must follow certain requirements. At this time, SolarAPP+ is designed to provide a code-compliance check for the majority of residential, roof-mounted, retrofit photovoltaic systems. To see which systems are eligible, please refer to the Eligibility Checklists. Only projects that conform to this lists are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting.

2.  Submit for Automated Review through SolarAPP+

  • To start using SolarAPP+, log in and submit your design through the SolarAPP+ Webpage.
  • A processing fee from SolarAPP+ and City of Calabasas permit fees will be charged.
  • Download the approved PDF letter and plans. 
  • Apply for a SolarAPP+ permit through our City of Calabasas portal with upload SolarAPP+ approval confirmation letter and reference solar plan set.
  • You will receive a confirmation email from SmartGov portal confirming application submittal.
  • Once application paperwork is deemed complete by City Staff, The city of Calabasas will issue the permit to the contractor or the authorized agent via email. 

3.  Schedule an Inspection:

  • Inspections are available during normal City business hours and can be requested for morning (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) or afternoon (11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). (requested timeframes are not guaranteed.)
  • Please have the City of Calabasas permit number, type of inspection requested, address, site contact name and contact phone number.  
  • Please schedule inspections using the City’s online portal.  Online inspections can be scheduled up until 3:00 p.m. the day before your scheduled inspection date.  
  • Scheduled inspection timeframes will be emailed by our SmartGov software around 8:30AM on the day of the requested inspection. The online portal will also have the timeframes available to be viewed once you login.

In addition to the information shown in the Solar eligibility table above, the following PV work related items will not be covered through the SolarAPP+ review program.

  • PV systems interconnecting with main panel busbars exceeding 225A
  • Re-roofing permit (Class A)
