Please send your nominations to Julie Wilke at jwilke@cityofcalabasas.com no later than Sunday, October 6th.
Don’t forget to join us for this meaningful event as we come together to honor and celebrate those who have served.

COMMUNITY ALERT: MONEY MOVEMENT & COURIER SCAM WARNING
The LASD and LAPD are warning residents about scams where criminals pose as banks, law enforcement, or government agencies to trick people into thinking their money is at risk. Victims are pressured to withdraw cash, buy gift cards or gold, or hand valuables to a fake “courier.”
🚩Watch for red flags:
- Urgent calls, texts, or emails demanding secrecy
- Requests for cash, cryptocurrency, or gift cards
- Couriers sent to your home (never legitimate)
-
Demands to download software or share personal info
✅Protect yourself:
- Don’t answer unknown calls or click suspicious links
- Never move money or hand over valuables based on a call, text, or email
- Verify requests directly with the agency or bank
- Report scams to local police, the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), or FBI (ic3.gov)
Reminder: Legitimate agencies will never send couriers or demand secrecy.

BATTERY RECYCLING PROGRAM RE-ENERGIZED

New collection bins are conveniently located throughout the City.
Visit the Battery Recycling Program webpage for more information on battery recycling locations and ways to help protect our environment.
Calabasas residents can pick up free battery collection boxes at the Building & Safety Counter in City Hall (Mon–Thurs 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Fri 7:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.). No appointment is needed, but if you’d like to schedule a pickup, contact Environmental Management Analyst Melanis Stepanian at mstepanian@cityofcalabasas.com.
Once you have your box, simply collect your batteries inside, tape both ends to ensure safety, and when the box is full, empty the batteries into a collection bin for proper disposal.
