The City of Calabasas will proudly host its annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 10 at City Hall (100 Civic Center Way) in the Calabasas Veterans Garden. Each of our five City Councilmembers will honor a local veteran for their service and dedication to our nation.

Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable individuals and all who have served. Please join us for this meaningful community event as we pay tribute to our veterans.

AMERICA RECYCLES DAY - NOVEMBER 15

 

America Recycles Day is on November 15, and the City of Calabasas is proud to support our community in recycling responsibly all year long. To help residents properly dispose of electronics, paint, and other household items, the City offers several free recycling programs throughout the year.

CALABASAS UPGRADES EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM - TEST ON NOVEMBER 16

 

The City of Calabasas has transitioned from Finalsite Connect to Genasys Alerts, a modern emergency notification system. Resident contact information from Finalsite has been securely transferred, and users are encouraged to log in, verify their details, and select their alert preferences. Former users may sign in with their existing email or phone number and reset their password; new users can register to create an account.

To ensure the system is functioning properly, the City will conduct a citywide Genasys alert test on November 16 at 1:00 p.m. This test will include all Calabasas zones — West (Cal-C401 to Cal-C405), Central (Cal-C406 to Cal-C410), and East (Cal-C411 to Cal-C415). Enrolled residents will receive a test message via text, email, or landline and are asked to acknowledge the alert when prompted.

BE PREPARED SAFETY FAIR - NOVEMBER 1

 

The City of Calabasas invites the community to the Be Prepared Safety Fair on Saturday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Calabasas Community Center (27040 Malibu Hills Road). Hosted by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and LA County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, this free, family-friendly event focuses on public safety, disaster preparedness, and community resilience.

Visitors can explore booths on emergency readiness, home hardening, and public safety resources. Families will enjoy K-9 demonstrations, touch-a-truck activities with safety vehicles, and pet adoptions. Presentations include Home Hardening to Protect Against Wildfires at 10:30 a.m. and Community Updates with the Chiefs at 11:30 a.m.

GATES CANYON PARK FENCING - COMMUNITY INPUT SESSION

 

The City of Calabasas invites residents to a Community Input Session on Saturday, November 1, from 9–11 a.m. at Gates Canyon Park (25801 Thousand Oaks Blvd.) to share feedback on proposed fencing improvements for the park.

Funded by a Los Angeles County Regional Park & Open Space District Grant, the project aims to review fencing styles, identify additional locations, and discuss ways to enhance safety for park visitors.

Community input is an important part of the design process, and residents are encouraged to stop by, share their ideas, and help shape the future of Gates Canyon Park.

Did you know the City of Calabasas offers Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Plans to help homeowners save time and money? Pre-Approved ADU Plans save property owners time and money in the initial phase of constructing an ADU. Since the plans are pre-approved, it expedites staff review and approval of building permits

Created in partnership with RRM Design Group, the plans feature three architectural styles and porch variations that complement Calabasas neighborhoods while allowing for individual design preferences. Homeowners can download the plans and all related materials free of charge on the City website.

Rides are just $2.50 within Calabasas and $4.00 to nearby destinations, connecting you to shopping, schools, medical appointments, and more.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available upon request, and one Flyer vehicle includes a bike rack for riders traveling with bicycles. When booking, simply select the bicycle option in the app to request this vehicle.

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES AT THE TENNIS & SWIM CENTER

 

Stay active and have fun with a variety of group fitness classes offered at the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center! Classes are open to members, with select sessions (highlighted in blue) designed for Non-Prime Time Members.

Members can register online up to 48 hours in advance through the Empower M.E. Portal. Guests are welcome to drop in on the day of class, space permitting, for a $13 fitness guest fee.

BAGS 4 BENCHES - BENCH DEDICATION CEREMONY

 

The City of Calabasas invites the community to join us for a special dedication ceremony celebrating the latest Bags 4 Benches installation. Thanks to the efforts of Calabasas High School students and the City’s Environmental and Parks, Recreation & Education Commissions, more than 1,000 pounds of plastic film have been diverted from landfills and transformed into a durable community bench.


This project reflects our shared commitment to sustainability and youth-driven environmental leadership, highlighting how small actions—like recycling plastic bags—can make a meaningful impact.

AGOURA ROAD TO CLOSE FOR FINAL STAGE OF WILDLIFE CROSSING CONSTRUCTION

 

Major progress continues on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing project. With the completion of Phase 1, construction has now entered Phase 2.

Beginning October 2025 through June 2026, Agoura Road will be fully closed on weekdays to all through traffic. Only local residents will be allowed access. Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 101 between Chesebro Road and Liberty Canyon Road.

A shuttle for pedestrians and cyclists will be available on weekdays, and temporary bus stop relocations will be announced.

This $92 million project aims to protect wildlife, reconnect habitats, and restore biodiversity across the 101 Freeway.

BUTTERFLIES IN BLOOM - 2026 ENVIRONMENTAL FORUM

 

Mark your calendars for the City’s Annual Environmental Forum: Butterflies in Bloom!

In 2026, the forum will explore the beauty and importance of butterflies and other pollinators, the habitats they rely on, and how human activity impacts biodiversity. Residents will have the opportunity to learn from environmental experts, discover ways to support pollinator health, and take home tips for creating pollinator-friendly spaces in our community.

BATTERY RECYCLING PROGRAM RE-ENERGIZED

 

Batteries contain hazardous materials and improper disposal can lead to fires, soil contamination, and water pollution. The City of Calabasas would like to invite you to participate in our re-energized Battery Recycling Program by disposing of your household batteries properly. New collection bins are conveniently located throughout the City.

Calabasas residents can pick up free battery collection boxes at the Building & Safety Counter in City Hall (Mon–Thurs 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Fri 7:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.). No appointment is needed, but if you’d like to schedule a pickup, contact Environmental Management Analyst Melanis Stepanian at mstepanian@cityofcalabasas.com.

Once you have your box, simply collect your batteries inside, tape both ends to ensure safety, and when the box is full, empty the batteries into a collection bin for proper disposal.

TECH HELP AT THE SENIOR CENTER 

 

Senior Tech HelpThe Senior Center’s Tech Help program has been recognized in the Technology, Virtual, and Hybrid Programing category by the annual Programs of Excellence contest, hosted by the National Council on Aging and the National Institute of Senior Centers.

Tech Help is free and takes place on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on a drop-in basis, no appointment needed. Community high school students help seniors improve their skills on cell phones, laptops, iPads and tablets.
