TAKE THE OBJECTIVE DESIGN STANDARDS SURVEY

The City of Calabasas is currently developing Objective Design Standards (ODS) for the review of multi-family housing and mixed-use development projects. This effort is in response to State legislation requiring jurisdictions to adopt objective standards and to implement them in a streamlined review of qualifying housing projects.

As we begin this important process, we want to hear from you! Feedback from the community will be utilized in order to develop design standards. We encourage you to participate in this brief survey, open through the month of June: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CalabasasODS

To learn more about the project, visit the page here on our website.

ADU PLANS PROGRAM ROLL OUT

The City of Calabasas is pleased to announce the launch of the Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Plans for homeowners in the City of Calabasas!

The Calabasas Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit Plans are a series of three, pre-reviewed, pre-approved code-compliant ADU construction plans that can be obtained online for no cost. The plans help the City meet new state mandated regulations to create diverse housing options throughout the City by encouraging the construction of ADUs. Three architectural options allow for a variety of exterior materials and door and window fenestrations to express individual owners’ tastes while respecting community character. These options reduce pre-construction fees for residents and shorten the review process.

The City selected the architecture and planning firm RRM Design Group to prepare the Pre-Approved ADU Plans. RRM Design Group was tasked with preparing floor plan options for a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom option, with three architectural elevations for each option. Each set of floor plans provides three architectural styles with porch variations and provides a checklist of options designed to make selecting the exterior easy for owners.

Please visit the all new ADU page in the Building and Safety section of the website for additional information, handouts, forms, and the downloadable plans.
