BAGS4BENCHES PLASTIC RECYCLING PROGRAM

The City of Calabasas Environmental Commission and Calabasas High School students have teamed up for the NexTrex Recycling Challenge. Their goal is to recycle 1,000 pounds of polyethylene film, which will be turned into an eco-friendly Trex bench. With over 450 pounds collected, they're nearly halfway to their goal!

During the holidays, household waste increases by 25% (about 1 million extra tons) due to plastic wrapping and packaging. With the holiday season upon us, help the ‘Bags 4 Benches’ team collect polyethylene film (or stretchy plastic) that would otherwise end up in landfills!

To learn more about this program, check out this Bags for Benches video created by our Media Team!

Bags

Plastic Collection sites include: Calabasas City Hall, Calabasas Senior Center, Calabasas High School AP Environmental Sciences Ms. Emily Sneed’s classroom, Las Virgenes Unified School District Office, Fazio Dry Cleaners in the Calabasas Commons, and Franklin’s Hardware!

Thank you for your commitment to sustainability and for helping the students achieve their goal of recycling 1,000 pounds of polyethylene film! Check out this Bags4Benches video created by the Calabasas Communications Team!
