JOIN THE CALABASAS CERT TEAM!
The City of Calabasas is offering a unique opportunity for residents to become active members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). As part of our ongoing commitment to public safety and preparedness, residents are invited to participate in CERT training through a hybrid format, consisting of a combination of online learning and hands-on skills training.
CERT members are trained to assist in emergencies and disasters by providing critical support such as basic medical aid, fire safety, light search and rescue, and more. This training not only empowers you to help your community, but also enhances your readiness at home.
Training Options Available:
- CERT Hybrid Course: Complete 8 online training modules at your own pace, followed by a 2-day in-person, hands-on training with L.A. County Fire.
- CERT Refresher Course: For previously trained CERT members who want to refresh their skills and join the final hands-on sessions.
Deadline to complete online modules: August 23, 2025 (All 8 modules and Final Exam must be completed prior to hands-on sessions)
Hands-On Training Dates: August 23 & 24, 2025
Training culminates with two hands-on skills sessions where participants practice real-world scenarios with the L.A. County Fire Department. New CERT graduates will receive a CERT certificate and backpack.
This is an excellent chance to make a meaningful impact in your neighborhood and be prepared when it matters most. When First Responders and resources are stretched thin, who will you rely on?
For more information on how to enroll, please contact: Sonia Castro, Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness Coordinator scastro@cityofcalabasas.com
