Power Line Undergrounding Project Begins This August
Southern California Edison (SCE) will begin a targeted undergrounding project along approximately 2.5 miles of Cold Canyon Road this August as part of its ongoing wildfire mitigation efforts. By placing power lines underground, the project will improve electric reliability during high winds and storms while reducing wildfire risk. Construction is expected to continue through December 2026 and may include temporary road closures, traffic impacts, and scheduled power outages as work progresses. Summer Dive-In Movie Night: Jungle Cruise on August 14th
Make a splash at Dive-In Movie Night: Jungle Cruise on Friday, August 14th, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center. Enjoy music, games, and prizes before settling in for a family-friendly movie by the pool. Admission is $5 per person, children ages 2 and under are free, and registration is required. Food will be available for purchase from Dog R-LA, and private movie cabanas are available for reservation for an upgraded movie night experience. Commission Spotlight: Traffic & Transportation Commission
August is National Traffic Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of road safety and encourage safe driving habits. It is also an opportunity to recognize the dedicated members of the City's Traffic & Transportation Commission, who serve in an advisory role to the City Council on traffic and transportation matters. The Commission helps evaluate community traffic concerns, improve traffic circulation, and make recommendations on traffic control devices such as signals, signage, and striping to help keep Calabasas safe for all who travel its roadways.

The Traffic & Transportation Commission is led by Chair Adam Smith and Vice Chair Mike Pashai, and includes Commissioners Richard Cassel, Heath Patton, and Jason Sperling Reich, along with Student Member Isla Goldfarb. Thank you to each of these volunteers for their dedication to improving transportation safety and mobility throughout the Calabasas community. Recent Community Events
Families and first responders came together at the Calabasas Civic Center on August 4th for National Night Out, strengthening community connections through games, activities, and public safety outreach.


National Night Out, 2026

After a summer of reading, learning, and discovery, the Calabasas Library celebrated the successful conclusion of its Summer Reading Program on July 31st with games, crafts, activities, and a special visit from the National Park Service. The celebration also featured the Friends of the Calabasas Library Book Sale, where visitors could browse books while supporting the Library. Thank you to the Friends of Calabasas Library for sponsoring the Summer Reading Program.
 

End of Summer Reading Program Celebration, 2026

The Power of Parks & Recreation series concluded on July 28th with Neon Night at Juan Bautista de Anza Park. Community members of all ages lit up the park in their brightest neon colors while enjoying sports, games, and an evening of family-friendly fun under the stars.
