July is filled with exciting opportunities to make the most of summer in Calabasas. From Park and Recreation Month festivities and Library programs to community recycling events and live entertainment, there is something for residents of all ages to experience throughout the month.
Events and Programs this Month
Used Oil and Water-Based Paint Round-Up on July 11thThe next Used Oil and Water-Based Paint Round-Up will be held on Saturday, July 11th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Calabasas City Hall. This free, drive-up event provides residents with a convenient way to safely recycle items such as used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, latex paint, and car batteries. Open to Calabasas residents and neighboring communities, the program helps keep harmful materials out of landfills and storm drains while supporting a cleaner, healthier environment. Writers’ Club: The Ultimate Creative Sprint! on July 11th
Young writers ages 7 to 12 are invited to put their creativity to the test at Writers' Club: The Ultimate Creative Sprint! on Saturday, July 11th, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Calabasas Library. Participants will have 20 minutes to write an original story or poem before bringing their words to life by painting a scene inspired by their work. The Power of Parks and Recreation: Barks and Brew: Coffee Edition on July 12th
Celebrate Park and Recreation Month at Barks & Brew: Coffee Edition on Sunday, July 12th, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Wild Walnut Park. Enjoy a relaxing morning with complimentary coffee, light treats, fresh air, and great company. This free community event celebrates the important role parks and recreation play in bringing people together, connecting us with nature, and preserving our beautiful open spaces. All ages are welcome, and refreshments will be available while supplies last.
Small Bites and Big Flavors: Olive Oil Tasting on July 14th
Discover the rich flavors of premium olive oil at Small Bites and Big Flavors: Olive Oil Tasting on Tuesday, July 14th, at 5:30 p.m., in the Calabasas Library’s Multi-Purpose Room. Explore the unique aromas and flavors of high-quality olive oils while sampling a variety of oils paired with small bites. The Power of Parks and Recreation: Arts & Crafts on July 15th
We continue the Park and Recreation Month celebration at Arts & Crafts on Wednesday, July 15th, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., at Grape Arbor Park. Participants of all ages are invited to enjoy hands-on activities that inspire imagination, encourage self-expression, and celebrate the value of our local parks and open spaces. This free community event is open to everyone, and craft supplies will be available while they last.
Online Film Fanatics: The Filmmaker’s Perspective on July 15th
Join independent filmmaker Mark Tapio Kines for Online Film Fanatics: The Filmmaker's Perspective on Wednesday, July 15th, at 6 p.m., on Zoom for an inside look at the realities of cinema. He will share first-hand experiences on the business of filmmaking, including navigating unions, agents, casting, and location scouting, alongside a deep dive into what makes a great movie. From story craft, character development, and blending humor with drama, to the evolution of 21st-century production, movie star charisma, and film scores, this talk covers it all. Calabasas Listening Lounge on July 21st
Enjoy an evening of diverse and vibrant local talent at the Calabasas Listening Lounge on Tuesday, July 21st, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Civic Center Amphitheater. Poets, storytellers, and musicians are invited to share their creativity in a welcoming community atmosphere. Whether you are a seasoned performer or taking the stage for the first time, all are welcome to participate or cheer on local talent. Admission is free for all ages.
