As we head into warmer months, I want to share a few things about public safety, especially as prom and graduation season gets underway and outdoor and beach activities begin to pick up. In this issue, you will find highlights from local community happenings, including last week’s Chamber of Commerce Wine Tasting & Silent Auction. And with National Public Works Week around the corner, I also want to recognize our Public Works team, whose efforts help keep our City running every day, often behind the scenes. And as always, I encourage you to explore upcoming events in the community.

Events and Programs this Month
Beach Safety, in Collaboration with LACoFD
Warmer temperatures are here, and with the beach just a short drive away, many people will be heading to the coast this summer. The Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Division encourages beachgoers to stay alert, be aware of ocean conditions, and review important water safety tips before heading out. Review the full list of beach safety tips below to help keep you and your families safe while enjoying the water and sunshine. Discover more safety topics here.

Prom Season Safety Reminder
With prom season and graduation celebrations underway, the City would like to remind our community to prioritize safety on the road. Whether you are attending prom, celebrating with friends, or heading out for the evening, distracted or impaired driving can change lives in an instant.
Put the phone away, stay focused behind the wheel, and never get into a car with someone who is distracted, speeding, or under the influence. If something does not feel safe, speak up and call a trusted adult, friend, rideshare, or family member for a ride home. Most importantly, have fun, make memories, and celebrate responsibly.
Chamber’s 27th Annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction Recap
It was a pleasure to attend the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce’s 27th Annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction event on May 7th at the Civic Center Plaza. The evening brought together residents, local businesses, and community partners for a night filled with delicious food, wine tastings, live music from the Calabasas High School Jazz Combo, and great conversation. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for hosting another successful and well-attended community event that continues to bring people together and support our local businesses.
National Public Works Week
Next week is National Public Works Week, a time to celebrate the dedicated members of our City's Public Works Department. The Public Works Department includes engineering and project management, environmental and intergovernmental relations, maintenance, landscape district services, citizen requests, and transportation and transit. This year's theme, "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community," recognizes the essential role Public Works professionals play in keeping our City running smoothly every day. Behind every City project, well-maintained roadway, and public space is a dedicated team working to serve the Calabasas community. Thank you to all the members of Public Works whose hard work and commitment help make Calabasas the wonderful City it is today. Find out more about the City of Calabasas Public Works Department here.
