Whether you’re heading out for candy or greeting costumed visitors at home tonight, please keep these safety tips in mind: 

• Watch your speed and stay alert for pedestrians, especially children crossing mid-block. 
• Use reflective gear or glow sticks to make sure trick-or-treaters are visible after dark. 
• Stick to well-lit areas and walk on sidewalks whenever possible. 
• Inspect candy before eating, and remind children not to enter unfamiliar homes. 
• Keep pets indoors to reduce stress and prevent accidental escapes.

Volunteer at the Calabasas Senior Center 
Looking for a meaningful way to give back? The Calabasas Senior Center offers several volunteer opportunities for residents who want to make a difference. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment and supporting the programs and events that make the Center so special.

Native Plants Take Root at the Wildlife Crossing 
A major milestone has arrived for the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing — the project’s native plant nursery is finally planting seedlings on the crossing itself.

After collecting more than a million seeds from the hills surrounding the site, nursery staff have grown thousands of plants over the past three years. Those plants are now being transplanted into specially prepared soil on top of the structure as part of the habitat restoration effort.

This milestone brings the crossing closer to completing phase two of its development and underscores our region’s commitment to ecological restoration and habitat connectivity. 

Share Feedback on Gates Canyon Park Improvements 
Thanks to recent grants from the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District, the City of Calabasas is replacing fencing at Gates Canyon Park. 

Help shape the project by attending the community input session tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m. at the park. All are welcome to share ideas and feedback.

E-Waste Collection – Nov. 1
The City offers free e-waste collection on the first Saturday of each month at the Albertsons Shopping Center back parking lot, 26521 Agoura Road.

Stop by on Saturday, Nov. 1, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to drop off items such as TVs, monitors, printers, cell phones, laptops, keyboards and servers. Learn more about accepted items.

At Your Door — Household Hazardous Waste Pickup
If you can’t make it to the e-waste collection, you can contact Waste Management to schedule an “At-Your-Door” special collection for e-waste and other household hazardous items. This service is available for free and there is no limit. Items accepted include used motor oil, paint products, garden chemicals, batteries, electronics and more.

Find Balance with Tai Chi & Reflective Meditation at King Gillette Ranch 
Join the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) for a rejuvenating morning of Tai Chi and reflective meditation on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. at King Gillette Ranch. Participants will learn gentle movements and breathing techniques that promote relaxation, mindfulness and connection with nature. This class is open to all experience levels and offers a peaceful way to start your weekend.

Veterans Day Ceremony — Nov. 10 
Join the City of Calabasas on Monday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. as we honor our nation's veterans at the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Calabasas Veterans Garden, 100 Civic Center Way.  

During the ceremony, each City Councilmember will recognize a local veteran for their service.  

This event is free and open to the public. I encourage you to attend and help honor those who have bravely served our country.

The City of Calabasas is conducting a fee study for the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center (CTSC) to ensure fees reflect actual costs and align with cost-recovery goals. Join one of two upcoming sessions, facilitated by Matrix Consulting Group, to learn about the current pricing structure, study methodology and results: 

• Virtual Session (via Zoom): Wednesday, Nov. 19, 6-7 p.m. (registration required) 
• In-Person Session: Saturday, Nov. 22, 9-10:30 a.m. at Founders Hall, 100 Civic Center Way 

If you can’t attend, please share your feedback through the online survey by Nov. 22.

Don’t Forget to “Fall Back” 
Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, Nov. 2. Remember to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night. This is also a great time to check smoke detector batteries, update emergency kits and adjust timers on outdoor lighting. Enjoy the extra hour of rest!
