"They'll get by with a little help from their friends"

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, The SPIRIT OF CALABASAS FOUNDATION (SOCF) and The CITY OF CALABASAS have joined with a sister community, the Parish of Plaquemines, to help in an urgent REBUILDING process.

Parish in Louisiana

Located to the south-east of New Orleans, Plaquemines Parish had a resident population of more than 26,000 before Katrina struck. Massive damage to infrastructure, economy and way of life occurred in a single blow, with most of the services and facilities needed to maintain any semblance of civilization being permanently lost. Liaising with SOCF on behalf of the Parish are Benny Rousselle Parish President. James Hoyle Superintendent School District.

To achieve this goal, SOCF intends to deliver much needed materials and manpower to the disaster area and this massive task began with a donation drive for desperately needed school supplies requested by the Parish School District.

A twenty-foot truck filled with needed relief supplies, including school materials and computers, were delivered and unloaded during a 10:00 a.m. ceremony in Belle Chasse, Louisiana on Friday, December 2, 2005.

Calabasas City Manager Tony Coroalles, City Councilman Jonathon Wolfson and other City officials joined SOCF leaders Red Godfrey and Robert Friedman to deliver the supplies and tour the Parish with Parish President Benny Rousselle and School Superintendent James Hoyle.
