Statement from
the City of Calabasas:
The City has great compassion for the difficult
circumstances in the Smith property Code Enforcement case. However, there
is a municipal duty to protect public health and safety and to prevent
violations of environmental laws. The City will continue working to
accomplish those responsibilities with compassion and cooperation for the
property owner and downstream neighbors affected by the substandard
conditions on the property. The City has no further public comment on the
case beyond what is in the court file so
as to not invade the property owner’s privacy by commenting in detail on
this unfortunate and dangerous situation.
