SEE YOU AT THE READING FESTIVAL!

Be a hometown hero by buying a book for a child! Join us at Founders Hall (200 Civic Center Way) on Wednesday, December 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the 3rd Annual Reading Festival! There will be books, therapy horses, crafts, music and fun! There will be heroic guest readers throughout the event such as local fire fighters, sheriffs, Calabasas City Council, LVUSD teachers and staff, and more!

PET PARTNERS: READ WITH ME

Is your child's reading going to the dogs? Let's hope so! Bring your new and emerging reader (grades K-3) to the Library on Saturday, December 3, to share in a unique reading program. Therapy dogs, trained through Pet Partners, will sit (or lie!) and listen while your child experiences the joy of reading aloud. Each child will have 15 minutes to read. Sign-ups begin at 11:00 a.m. and the program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

BOOK OF THE MONTH: THE FALL OF HEAVEN

Written by Andrew Scott Cooper an adjunct professor at Columbia University and the author of the Oil Kings, Fall of Heaven is a very readable, well-told and thoroughly researched narrative about the final days of the monarchy in Iran. Extensive interviews, diaries and memories published since, and newly released documents provide enough materials for Cooper to present an intimate portrait of the unfolding events that resulted in the Shah’s exile and coming to power of the Islamic Republic, effects of which is still reverberating through the whole region. Highly recommended. Our library carries both the hard copy and electronic version of this book.
