WRAPPING UP OUR "READ FOR THE WIN" SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The Calabasas Library's Summer Reading Program "Read for the Win!" has been a big hit at the Calabasas Library! Readers of all ages have been reading books throughout the summer and winning prizes. If you or your child participated, we would love for you to fill out our short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2016SRPCAL. The Calabasas Library works with the California Library Association to receive free materials for our summer programs. These surveys help the library find out what patrons think of our sign-up programs, either in person or online. You have until August 10 to turn in your logs or tickets and surveys.

As part of our Summer Reading Program, patrons have also enjoyed some exciting shows! K through 5th graders won't want to miss the final entertainment happening Wednesday, August 3 at 4:00 p.m.! Stop by to watch "Mighty Mickey's Magic Circus" show! Share the silly antics of Mighty Mickey and Laney Star in a variety show complete with juggling, unicycle riding, magic, and laughs!

The Summer Reading Program ends on Sunday, August 7. For questions, call the Library at 818-225-7616. Visit www.cityofcalabasas.com/events/library/summer-reading-program2016.html to view the complete line-up of the Summer Reading Program events.

TEENS HONORED WITH THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY STUDENT VOLUNTEER AWARD

Congratulations to our teen volunteers! The Friends of the Calabasas Library Student Volunteer Awards were presented to Leighton Mair and Trevor Wong at the Library Commission meeting on June 28, 2016. They are both terrific volunteers for the Library and the honors were well deserved.

Leighton is a graduate of Calabasas High School and Trevor is a graduate of Agoura High School. They are both attending college in the fall and are on their way to great things. We wish them both the best of luck and extend our deepest appreciation for their efforts at the Library.

Leighton Mair Bio: I am a graduate of Calabasas High School and will be attending UC Santa Cruz in the fall. My future plans are to study Neuroscience at UCSC. I then plan to attend law school with the goal of fighting for equality and human rights. I began volunteering at the library during the 2014 Summer Reading Program. I fell in love with volunteering at the library and continued my involvement through the Teen Library Council. During the summer of 2015, I was honored to be a teen leader for the Summer Reading Program and continued on the council for my senior year.

Trevor Wong Bio: I live in Calabasas and I have been a fan of the library since I was 3 years old. I have been a volunteer with the Library since 2012. I have been a tutor, Teen Library Council member, a Summer Reading volunteer and teen leader. I graduated from Agoura High School this year and I will be attending California State University Northridge this fall. I plan on studying informational technology and cyber forensics.

We wish the best to Leighton and Trevor and thank them for their years of involvement and contributions to the Calabasas Library.
