The Freedom Drive Pavement Rehabilitation project will be
re-constructing the full depth section of the road and then capping
it with new asphalt paving. The re-construction of Freedom Drive
involves the full width of existing asphalt pavement on Freedom
Drive from Liberty Bell to the northerly end of Freedom Drive.
The major work involved is as follows:
-
Pulverization by milling (grinding).
- Compacting the new base section by spreading and mixing the newly
ground asphalt.
- Paving over the new base section with 2 ˝ inches of asphalt
pavement.
We anticipate the major work to be completed approximately one
week. Please note that the duration of the project may vary
with field conditions and/or inclement weather. We will provide
updates as they become available.
To
accommodate the construction, the contractor will be posting “No
Parking” notices 72 hours prior to the work commencing.
Work hours are defined as Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. –
3:00p.m. During the work, we expect that there will be
unavoidable construction delays. The Contractor’s crews will do all
that they can to minimize inconveniences.
The project start date has been adjusted due to inclement weather.
The contractor's
current schedule
can be found here.
Project
notifications began on the week of January 7, 2008 with major work
commencing on Monday, January 14, 2008.
