CALABASAS, California (October 22, 2012)- The
first annual "Food Drive-Thru" event is set to take place
Saturday, November 17 through Sunday, November, 18 - the weekend
prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. Organized and run by local
Scouts, the charity event will take place from 9:00am – 5:00pm
each day at the Calabasas Commons parking lot (4799 Commons Way,
in Calabasas). An estimated 500 Boy, Girl, Cub, Venture, Varsity
and Sea Scouts will volunteer their time for the charitable
event.
"I am thrilled to see the high-level of
support our community is providing for this worthy cause,"
commented Jeff Rudner, Event Coordinator. "I couldn't be more
proud of all the Scouts who are volunteering to participate next
month." Scouts and adult volunteers will help staff the two day
event by accepting non-perishable food donations, then loading
them into a large truck. The donated food will then be delivered
a day later to the West Valley Food Pantry to help feed the
hungry during the holiday season.
The Food Drive-Thru event and participating
Scouts are supported by the City of Calabasas, Calabasas Chamber
of Commerce, Caruso Affiliated, Fresh Brothers Pizza, Rent-It
Trucks, Wells Fargo Bank, and other local merchants.
