Campaign Sign Regulations Reminder

With the elections quickly approaching, please observe the following regulations limiting campaign signage.

On private property, and only in instances where the property owner has granted permission, one temporary freestanding campaign sign is allowed for each political candidate or issue on each street frontage per private lot. All campaign signs shall be removed within ten (10) days after the election for which they are intended. Each sign shall not exceed six square feet in sign area with a maximum height of four feet.

The following signs and/or sign locations are prohibited, and the signs will be promptly removed by Code Enforcement:

  • Animated, moving, flashing, blinking, reflecting, revolving, digital screen or any other similar moving or simulated moving signs;

  • Bus stop bench signs or any copy painted on, or otherwise affixed to any portion of a bus stop bench or shelter;

  • Inflatable signs, balloons, pennants, streamers and flags;

  • Signs on public property or in any public right-of-way within the City, streets or landscape adjacent to streets/sidewalks, parks, or medians;

  • Signs tacked, nailed, posted, pasted, glued or otherwise attached to trees, poles (including utility and street name), stakes, electrical transformers or other accessory structures.

Thank you for your cooperation and consideration. Enforcement of the City's sign regulations helps keep Calabasas beautiful and protects the safety and welfare of the public.
