Calabasas Reality Party for Parents This Saturday Jan. 25

Many adults feel drinking is a rite of passage and think teen drinking, drug use and parties are the same as when they were young.

This Saturday January 25 from 3-7:30 p.m. the organization Straight Up Youth will host a “Calabasas Reality Party for Parents” at a private residence in Calabasas to help give parents a more accurate picture of the parties their children may be attending.

At the event, hosted in collaboration with the cities of Calabasas, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, the Las Virgenes Unified School District, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, and Engage Recovery, teen actors will portray scenes from a house drinking party and voice the concerns expressed by local teens and young adults about trends in youth alcohol and drug use and party culture.

A facilitated discussion follows every tour  to help parents understand the current and local culture of teen parties and underage drinking and the social environments that teens face. The program will help enable parents to have relevant and meaningful communication with their teens and discuss options for keeping the community’s teens safe.

It only takes one hour to attend and to discuss and tours start every half-hour. Adults only. FREE!  Space is limited, to learn more and to register, please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/V32CXQS
