SUPPORT FOR LOCAL SOLDIERS SERVING IN IRAQ

Over one hundred thousand soldiers from around the country are currently serving their country in Iraq.  Many families in Calabasas would like to offer support to the men and women serving abroad through letters, emails and care packages.  A new nonprofit organization, Any Soldier, Inc., is dedicated to helping Americans who want to send letters or support packages to soldiers but who don't know where and who to send them to.  The site has hundreds of primary soldier contacts currently serving overseas who are registered on the site and have listed items they and their fellow soldiers need.  When these contact soldiers receive mail addressed to "ATTN: Any Soldier," they pass on the letter or package to a fellow soldier who doesn't get much mail.  Any Soldier, Inc. currently has 991 primary contacts delivering mail to over 43,000 fellow soldiers in Iraq.  When mailing letters and packages to Iraq, please refer to the United States Postal Service "Supporting Our Troops" page for guidelines and helpful tips.

There are local soldiers from Calabasas who would also appreciate hearing from well-wishers.  If you would like to send a letter or a care package to a local soldier serving in Iraq, please drop your letter or package off at City Hall and the City will make sure it gets to a soldier serving abroad.
