DONATE BOOKS TO
OUR TROOPS |
If
you have extra books lying around your house that you don’t need,
consider donating them to our troops in Iraq who could use the
entertainment and relaxation. Both the Agoura Hills/Calabasas
Community Center and the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center will be
collecting your donations. Richard Robinson, a local resident,
is collecting the books and plans to deliver them to Camp Pendelton Naval Base in San Diego for shipment overseas next month.
The books must be paperback since the soldiers need to carry them
in their backpacks where space is limited. Just drop your donated
books in the specially marked containers at the Community Center or
the Tennis & Swim Center. They are much appreciated! For additional
information
call the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center at (818) 880-2993 or

CHAPARRAL
JOG-A-THON |
On
Wednesday, April 7, approximately 500 students participated in the
Chaparral Jog-A-Thon fundraiser, an annual event for over 18 years.
The students walk en masse from Chaparral Elementary School to
Calabasas High School. Once at the high school, the different grades
circle the track, cheered on by their classmates in the bleachers.
Students raised over $20,000 from this year's event, which
will go to support the library, physical education programs, and art
programs at Chaparral Elementary. City staff and Pepperdine students
lent a hand on the morning of the event. A BIG “Thank You” goes to
the tireless efforts of the volunteers, staff, and kids who made this
year's jog-a-thon a great success! |
