Candidates Opening Statements

Question 1 - The City has Ordinances in place regarding commercial signs and oak trees.  Are these regulations to restrictive?  What changes if any should be made to these Ordinances?

Question 2 - This question assumes that all of you have at least the minimum qualifications to be a member of the City Council.  What then distinguishes you from all of the other candidates?  What specific promises, on other words read my lips, are you willing to make this evening to set you apart from the other candidates?

Question 3 - Much has been made of the lack of Council civility and decorum, an issued used to unseat an incumbent in the last election.  Does a lack of civility and decorum preclude good decision making?

Question 4 - If elected, how would you address the different needs of the historic and rustic Calabasas and those of a modern community?  With due respect to the accommodations of these potentially conflicting interests.

Question 5 - If faced with a development proposal that would generate a large amount of revenue to expand City programs, but would also generate increased traffic and other impacts, how would you vote?  What is the best way for the City to increase its revenues?

Question 6 - Calabasas could be described as a loose federation of varied communities.  What experience have you had outside of your own neighborhood that has prepared you to understand the diverse needs and concerns of these communities?
