LESLEY DEVINE
Occupation: Calabasas City Councilwoman
I am honored to serve you to enhance
our sense of place, build partnerships, guard the
safety and
beauty of our town. My hallmark is open democracy, inclusive
government,
putting our residents first.
Families of deer are seen in our
neighborhoods, reminding us to treasure our special
environment
and make developers follow the rules. By my leadership of
Calabasas'
Open Space Task Force and regionally on Santa Monica
Mountains Conservancy
Advisory Board, we accomplished;
Adding multiple acres of open space,
saving viewsheds, opening Wild Walnut Park,
Turning Ahmanson Ranch into parkland through my relentless
leadership and your
dedication,
Ensured future land protection through public/private
collaboration with Mountains
Restoration Trust.
Immediate goals are trail additions,
purchase of Soka property, which requires knowledge
and
partnerships.
I take your safety and security
seriously, leading Calabasas' Safety Task Force, having;
Organized "Safety Forum" resulting in better security at our
library, city hall, parks;
Streamlined emergency communication with local companies;
Hosted National terrorism experts - advancing preparedness;
Upgraded Public Safety Commission - strengthening citizen
oversight for emergencies.
Traffic improvements are ongoing,
adding signals at key points, new landscaped
medians, buses for
kids, and boosting traffic enforcement.
Continued focus on neighborhood
tranquility is fundamental.
Calabasas belongs to all its
residents, especially our youngsters. I'll continue to;
Add new "free play" parks through cooperation with School
District;
Provide quality Pre-School program,
Active after-school programs,
A great library.
We can accomplish more: add new
westside Pre-School, ensure a fiscally sound Civic
Complex,
bringing culture and quality to Calabasas.
City finances are stable with
healthy reserves, partly because;
I instituted tight controls on contracts;
Reduced outside consulting budgets.
Calabasas' economy is characterized
by vibrant entrepreneurs and first-rate corporate
headquarters.
My service on Economic Alliance of San Fernando Valley Board helps
guide quality businesses to Calabasas.
I'm committed to making Calabasas
the "Smart City" of the future. Watch for upcoming
High Tech
Fair.
Implementation of our Cityhood
dreams is creative, forward looking and collaborative.
Please join Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and your
neighbors in
supporting my re-election.
My only special interest is you.
I never have - never will - take campaign money from
Developers. Visit www.civicweb.com
Keeping Calabasas the scenic, secure
community that brought us all here has depended
on our detailed,
fair, equitable application of basic values.
We enjoy a safe, beautiful, dynamic,
economically viable City. Moving ahead, I
respectfully
request your vote of continued confidence.
It's still about your quality of
life.
