The City of
Calabasas has a variety of communication capabilities available during
an emergency/disaster situation. The systems available to the City to
disseminate essential information in a timely manner include:

Emergency Management Information Systems (EMIS) - Is an internet
website linked directly to the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency
Management

Disaster Communication Services (DCS) & CERP licensed amateur radio
operators
ü
Community Alert Network (CAN) – automated phone system with
pre-recorded message
Commercial
radios are assigned to the Sector Leaders, Team Leaders and the City
Liaison which will be used in emergency situations to report the
status of conditions in the Sector.
CERP
Communication Net Control
Every Saturday
morning at 8:00 am the Sector Leaders, Team Leaders and the City
Liaison check in to receive instruction and information on activities
and training programs available, and to ensure that the radios are
working properly.
Disaster
Communication Services - Amateur Radio Information
The Disaster
Communications Service through the Sheriff’s Department enlists
amateur radio operators to assist with the City’s emergency
communications during a disaster.
HAM radios are
often the primary method of communication following a disaster. CERP
Volunteers report the neighborhood condition to the City’s Emergency
Operation Center.
