WHAT IS THE CALABASAS EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROGRAM (CERP)?

So you may ask, what is CERP?  CERP is a volunteer program designed specifically for the residents of Calabasas.

As you all know we live in earthquake country, so the question is not if, it's when.  So are you prepared?  Is your family prepared?  And what about your pets?

Earthquakes are not the only disasters to be concerned about.  We live in an incredibly gorgeous area - amidst beautiful mountains and nature, but, as we are all aware there are other forces of nature which can occur such as wildfires and landslides.

 CERP has three roles:

  1. To provide information so the residents of Calabasas can be prepared for potential emergencies.

  2. Following a disaster, CERP’s role is to assess and communicate neighborhood conditions to the City’s Emergency Operations Center, and

  3. After a major disaster, the CERP medical disaster team volunteers will provide basic first aid services from medical cache (First Aid storage units) located throughout the City of Calabasas.  They are located at: Grape Arbor Park, De Anza Park, Calabasas Tennis and Swim Club, Calabasas High School & Calabasas Hills Park.

CERP consists of 4 volunteer components:

  1. Residential is composed of Block Captains, Home Owner Representatives and Sector Leaders.

  2. Medical is made up of medical professionals to provide basic first aid.

  3. Communications is composed of Sector Leaders and FCC certified experts.

  4. Business involves representatives of Calabasas businesses.

The following questions are addressed through CERP meetings, training and events.

  1. Are you prepared to sustain yourself and your household for 72 hours?

  2. Do you know what specific supplies to have on hand and how to properly store them?

  3. If you or another adult is not there, can your family members take care of themselves until help arrives?

  4. Do you know where your closest medical cache (City First Aid storage unit) is?
