Images of America: Calabasas, chronicles the history of the people, places and events that shaped the City of Calabasas and its surrounding environment.  Before homesteaders arrived in the 1800s, the west end of the San Fernando Valley was a sparsely populated area inhabited by Chumash Indians. The area had abundant wildlife, water and shady oak trees.  As more and more people arrived in the area, property clashes and disputes became common.
