COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT)
Emergenecy Response Team - Agoura Hills - Classes Begin Sept. 8, 2015
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about
disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them
in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and
rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the
training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can
assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when
professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members
also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more
active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
CERT training is offered free of charge to all community members. The City
offers additional training (such as CPR and First Aid) for CERT trained
CERT is a
volunteer group of trained citizens committed to remaining ready to assist
local government, public safety agencies, and each other at all times. CERT
volunteers have no obligation or commitment to respond or act in the event
of a disaster. CERT receives funding from the City of Calabasas and training
from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and is administered by the
City. CERT assists in both emergency and non-emergency situations by:
Promoting emergency safety for all community members to be prepared to
care for their families and themselves.
Providing assistance for community events.
Providing communications to the City in times of emergency and

Emergency Response Program (CERP) Radio Team. To become a member of
the CERP Radio Team, you need to be CERT trained &
The CERP Radio Team tests the cityís amateur radio (ham) system on a
weekly basis. During an emergency, neighborhood information/status
reports would be forwarded to the City's Emergency Operations Center.

CERTís goal is to gain and train knowledgeable members in earthquake
preparedness, basic disaster skills, First Aid and hands-only CPR, light
search & rescue, fire suppression, and safety assessment. CERPís goal is to
support emergency radio communications between the community and the city.
